Sunny Ride

I don't know about you, but I could use some sunshine with this dreary winter weather we've been having.   The days the sun peeks through the clouds here seem to be far apart.  I suppose it doesn't help that I spend daylight hours at work 5 days a week.  So to brighten up my day, I pulled out some yummy yellow for this sweet ride.

The card features the "Harley Bikes" set from Bombshell Stamps and is for this month's Bombshell Sketch challenge.   Check out the sketch and some other ideas on the Bombshell Blog

Rev Up Mojo 304

This is for the Mojo Monday 304 sketch challenge.   I've been wanting to use some of these die cuts I've had sitting around at my desk that I cut using a 12 inch Sizzlet die.   They make the perfect chevrons that are so hot right now.  I combined those strips with one of the cars from  Bombshell's Speed Shop stamp set.

A bit of an angle.

Inside of the card.

Patriotic Muscle Car

Bombshell Stamps' Miss July, Michelle Giraud issued a challenge to get patriotic with red white and blue.  I combined that challenge with this week's Mojo Monday sketch (mojo300).   Here's the end result featuring the Vintage Raceway set from Bombshell Stamps.

I used a couple of star punches to add a tone on tone 3D effect on the background layer.   The below angled shot shows this a bit better.

Love SU dimensionals.  They're so easy to use.  I also love that they are half as thick as some of the pop dots at the big box stores.   Because they're thinner I can add two layers to a card. The circle is mounted with dimensionals and so is the car.   The car has single layer dimensionals on the front which is mounted on top of the raised circle.  The back has two layers of dimensionls to raise the piece to an even level.

Lastly, the inside of the car.  I just added some strips of paper turned into banners.   Great use for scraps.

Here's the Mojo Monday sketch for this week - mojo300

Cardstock: Riding Hood Red, Crumb Cake, Whisper White (Stampin' Up); white (Neenah)
Tools: star punches (Creative Memories and Marvy); border punch (EK Success)

Roaring Birthday

Here's a perfect birthday card for a guy in your life.  This project is also posted on the Bombshell Blog.  Check it out.   The image is stamped using Tim Holtz Distress Ink, embossed with clear embossing powder, and then colored with Copic markers with a touch of sparkling silver added here and there using a Gelly Roll Stardust pen by Sakura.

And for any of you that might be wondering why I've been posting less lately.  It's simply that day job thing.  Work has been intense for the last few months and there's no sign of it letting up.  So when I come home, it's all I can do to run the kids to their engagements and then I'm just zapped.   I'm sure many of you can relate.

Birthday King of the Road

Tuesday is my son's 11th birthday.  He'll officially be a "tween".   My young man has always had a head for cars.   I promise you, he didn't start playing as a baby until he had a car in his hand.   So when I saw that Bombshell Stamps is featuring their King of the Road stamp set each Monday of this month on the Bombshell Blog, it was a perfect fit.   What a great stamp set to use for my son's birthday card.

I stamped the antique hot rod three times using masking.   After coloring, I cut the back ground down using an exacto knife to where the cars run off of the white.   They're just roaring to go.

Here's an angled shot to show off the dimension.

And the inside of the card.

Fall Ride

This card is for this month's sketch on the Bombshell Forum.  In making this card I was reminded of the first time I got to ride on a motorcycle in the Fall with leaves being stirred up and swirling around the roar of the bikes.   It was on some beautiful winding backroads in Ohio.   So I couldn't help but add a lot of leaves to this card - swirling all around.

Here's the sketch I used.  I took the Bombshell Forum sketch and turned it sideways to align with the length of the motorcycle.

Here's a bit of an angled shot to see the dimension.

And lastly, the inside of the card.

Supplies:
Stamps: Bombshell Stamps (Vintage Motorcyles, Custom Choppers (for the greeting))
Ink: Memento (to stamp the image), Stampin' Up (to add some shading and for the greeting)
Coloring: Copic markers
Paper: BoBunny (Apple Cider), Stampin' Up Cardstock)
Tools: Quickutz (swirls), EK Success (border), various leaf punches including from EK Success, Creative memories, and Marvy

Bomb Away the Blues

It's a rainy day around these parts and what better way to bomb away the blues than with an awesome Bombshell project.   I used my Bombshell Angel stamp, this months sketch challenge from Bombshell Stamps blog.  There's so much detail to this card, I just had to make the image a bit larger than I usually do.

The background is this great two sided print from Echo Park.  I thought of my Bombshell Angel stamp the moment I saw that paper in the store.  It used to be a crisp black and white.   I took a Spellbinder Embossing folder and some SU Going Grey classic ink to it.  I shaded the paper before embossing and then did another round of shading/distressing after running it through the embossing folder.    The blue paper is a print from Creative Memories that's got a few years on it, but I'm good with "vintage" paper if you will.  I love it all. The accents are some Basic Grey ribbon and a line of brads.

Now to the main image herself.   She's my Bombshell Angel from Bombshell Stamps.  I stamped her using Memento Ink (Rich Cocoa) and then colored her using my Copic markers.  I dressed her up like a paper doll using this coordinating cutting file from Bombshell Stamps. I cut the dress using Make The Cut software and my KNK Zing.  I shaded the blue dress (and the blue used for the mats) with some SU Classic ink.

And here's the inside of the card.  I ran a piece of white cardstock into the die cut machine but only an inch or less and rolled it back out.   I added some shading around the edges and a few scraps of printed paper (also shaded).  Viola... done!

Here's the card sketch used from the Bombshell Stamps forum.

Supplies:
Stamps: Bombshell Stamps (Bombshell Angel)
Ink: Memento (Rich Cocoa), Stampin' Up (Basic Grey, Brocade Blue)
Coloring: Copic markers
Papers: Echo Park print, Creative Memories print, Nennah (for the Bombshell Angel image), Hammermill coverstock (for the inside of the card), Stampin Up (Basic Black for the card base)
Tools: Spellbinder embossing folder
Accents: Basic Grey Ribbon, Paper Studio brads, Stampin' Up Dimensionals

Cuttlebug Cutting Pad Storage

My last post was a foam core creation and by happenstance, this one is too.

It has two slots to hold my cutting pads.  The front holds my more commonly used pads and the back holds some shims, crease pad, embossing pads, etc...

Here's a closer look at the two compartments.

The box is dressed in some Stampin' Up DSP - Play Date.  I used a Fiskars punch for the scallop accent on the wrapper.  The medallion is made using SU's largest Scallop punch for the blue background.   I cut the rosette using Tim Holtz's 12 inch die and some circle punches (Creative Memories and EK Success).

The bottom of the box has a layer of specialty paper with this suede feel that I picked up ages ago on clearance at JoAnn's.

And here's a pircute of where this little box lives at my cutting station.
