Bombshell Mojo

This card is a mash up of the Mojo Monday 318 sketch and this month's Bombshell Pin-Up.   Her challenge goes live on the Bombshell Blog this Wednesday.   Stop by and check out some of team's creations.   But for now.... here's my challenge combo creation.

Patriotic Muscle Car

Bombshell Stamps' Miss July, Michelle Giraud issued a challenge to get patriotic with red white and blue.  I combined that challenge with this week's Mojo Monday sketch (mojo300).   Here's the end result featuring the Vintage Raceway set from Bombshell Stamps.

I used a couple of star punches to add a tone on tone 3D effect on the background layer.   The below angled shot shows this a bit better. 

Love SU dimensionals.  They're so easy to use.  I also love that they are half as thick as some of the pop dots at the big box stores.   Because they're thinner I can add two layers to a card. The circle is mounted with dimensionals and so is the car.   The car has single layer dimensionals on the front which is mounted on top of the raised circle.  The back has two layers of dimensionls to raise the piece to an even level.   

Lastly, the inside of the car.  I just added some strips of paper turned into banners.   Great use for scraps.

Cool Skate

Is the summer here yet?   Is spring soccer over yet?   Will work ever let up?    At least I managed to squeeze in a bit of an escape with this card.  I think it's perfect for a teen or tween boy.  The skate boarder image is straced using MTC and cut with my KNK Zing.  I then covered it with a coat of Glossy Accents by Ranger. The background has some silver shimmer paper trimmed with a Martha Sttewart border punch.  

Merry-Go-Card

I was browsing around Hobby Lobby the other day and noticed this beautiful Merry-Go-Round horse.  On a whim, I picked it up.   I put it to use on this card colored with Copic markers and accented with some gorgeous printed paper by My Mind's Eye (Miss Caroline collection).  

Here's the inside of the card.   I stamped the image again, but very faintly.  I used Stampin' Up Pretty in Pink ink, stamped off on a scratch piece of paper and then stamped on the card.

Birthday King of the Road

Tuesday is my son's 11th birthday.  He'll officially be a "tween".   My young man has always had a head for cars.   I promise you, he didn't start playing as a baby until he had a car in his hand.   So when I saw that Bombshell Stamps is featuring their King of the Road stamp set each Monday of this month on the Bombshell Blog, it was a perfect fit.   What a great stamp set to use for my son's birthday card.

I stamped the antique hot rod three times using masking.   After coloring, I cut the back ground down using an exacto knife to where the cars run off of the white.   They're just roaring to go.

Happy New Year Diva

Happy New Year or Happy Birthday.  This gorgeous darling does the trick. The card itself is a bit of a trick.  It's a tri-fold card with a clear acrylic layer at the front.

The first layer of the card features the gorgeous diva from Bombshell Stamp's Butterfly Queen set. She's just gorgeous and makes me yearn for the body I used to have in my younger years.  The acrylic layer is adhered to one of the cardstock flaps.  To hide the adhesive, I added a border and then another one on the other side for balance.   

In the shot above you can see the layers folded out.   The second layer is created with a stamp from Bombshell Stamp's Pin Stripes set.  It's colored with Copics in an art deco style. 

On the inside I stamped the same pin stripes image using a stamp off technique.   You can just barely see it behind the Butterfly Queen.

and lastly, a shot with the card laying down.  You can see the neat effect of having her on that clear layer in front of the pinstripe/art deco layer.

Happiest Birthday

Today is my friend's birthday and she just happens to be my local SU Demo, Chris Galbraith.  I enjoy getting to make a card for her now and then, especially given all of the creative inspiration she shares with me and the rest of her customers throughout the year.  The card was inspired by this week's Pals Paper Arts sketch #PPA149.

The image is stamped and then colored with SU markers.   I used a darker color first and then a lighter one for a blended effect. The strips of printed papers are mounted on the red and then embossed.

And the inside of the card.  I used markers to ink up the greeting stamp.   The flowers are stamped, colored and then cut out. Adhered with some pop dots.

Daydream Christmas Medallion

I fell in love with Stampin' Up's Daydream Medallion stamp set and coordinating Floral Frames Framelits Dies as soon as the catalog came out last Summer.   I just knew these would be perfect for Christmas cards too.    For this medallion, I layered four of the stamps from the stamp set and another little circle stamp from a retired set called Little Pieces for the center.   

For the back layer, I cut a second medallion, sectioned it off like pieces of a pie using my Fiskars paper trimmer and then did the shadow layer application.   Add some pearls, ribbon, embossing, matting, and that's about it.   I just love the rich effect that medallion gives.   I'll have to make more of these to send out to family and friends this season. 

Below is an angled shot that shows more dimension.   The green layer is actually stamped and cut individually and then applied.   Same with the center circle.

And here's the inside of the card.  I just this gorgeous EK Success border punch that just seemed to have similar rich and elegant qualities as the medallion on the cover.

Christmas Ornaments Card

My local Stampin' Up Demo, Chris Galbraith does a fantastic job.   One of the fun things she does is she puts just a little something as a thank you in my bag with my order when I pick it up.   Last month (or was it the month before) it was a sheet of Designer Series Paper from the Festival of Prints paper stack that's 6 1/2 x 4 1/2.   I had that sheet of paper sitting on my desk for a while and decided to get inspired by it to make a card.   Here's what I came up with.  I actually made three cards using that little sheet of printed paper.   Now I want to make more.   I did have that paper pad in my order that month, so I really aught to get busy. 

The colors in the print are Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.  So I pulled those out and a red to coordinate.   I used Raspberry Ripple.   The crumb cake base is stamped with the Stampin' Up Linen background stamp (Crumb Cake ink).  The Very Vanilla layer is embossed using a Cuttlebug Embossing folder.  Add a little ribbon to the top of the die cut ornaments and then a pearl in the center medallion of the round ornament.   

The inside is kept simple.   Just a strip of DSP and I used an EK Success border punch for the small scalloped trim.

Christmas Wreath - Twins

It's been a year since I started my blog.   At that time, I posted a card or project a day until I ran out of Christmas cards.   Well, it's time to do it again, or at least try to.  

Here are a couple of twin cards.   The only change is an embossing folder and one more layer of matting.   It does make a difference, even if ever so subtle.   

Both wreaths were made by stamping two circles from Stampin' Up's Daydream Medallions set using a stamp-a-magic.  It's cut out using Stampin' Up's coordinating Floral Framelits dies.

Victorian Blue Christmas

I've been making some Christmas cards and needed to get out of the standard red and green color mode.  When I saw this week's Dynamic Duo's challenge (DD29), it was just the ticket.   I combined it with this week's Retro Sketches challenge (RS38) and came up with this card.  

The stamp I used is one I unmounted some time ago and wish I could recall the brand.  Some of the first stamps I unmounted, I didn't think to keep track of the manufacturer.   I want to say it's Good Night Media, but I'm not sure.  If you recognize it, please post. 

Here's a bit of a close up.  I used SU watercolor wonder crayons to add some muddled hues to the background of the image.  And markers, to go over the "Merry Christmas".  I also colored in a few little spots on the black and white print paper using a Marina Mist SU marker just to tie it all together a bit more.

...and a peek into the inside of the card.  I haven't add a greeting yet.  I'll do that as I get ready to send it.

Green and Booty

This is for this weeks' Dynamic Duos challenge #20.   The color combo was fun and the bonus theme of Halloween was the perfect inspiration.   I just got the Stampin' Up Bootiful Occasions stamp set and this was the perfect challenge to break in that set.
