Angry Bird Paper Piecing / Cupcake Topper

My awesome 10 year old son has decided that he doesn't want a cake for his birthday.  He wants brownies.  This seems to be catching in our family.  My hubby started this.  That man is not much for sweets but he loves brownies.   So instead of a cake, I'm making brownies using a cup cake pan and red cup cake liners.   To decorate the cupcakes, I'm going to make a lot more of these cute little paper piecings. I haven't decided yet if I'll put the birds on tooth picks, popsicle, or lollipop sticks.  I'm leaning toward lollipop sticks.

Here's an updated photo of the Angry birds.  I changed his tail feathers and ended up using lollipop sticks.  I also used some foam tape in between the face of the bird and a plain red circle for the back for some dimension.

I can't take credit for this idea.  I stumbled across this wonderful ideal while browsing the webs.   I hope this talented lady doesn't mind me casing it, but I certainly want to give credit where credit is due.  Check it out on her blog HERE.  She's got a lot more amazing ideas on her blog too.

P.S.  I'll have to come back and update this post with a picture of the brownie cupcakes when they're done.   That won't happen for another week though.
